Eoligarry

Eoligarry Beach sits at the northern tip of Barra, and is made up of extensive sand dune and machair systems. The coastline here is highly dynamic, making Eoligarry a compelling site for monitoring coastal change over time and building a clearer picture of how this landscape is evolving. What makes the site particularly significant for Muir is Tìr is the crofting land that runs along the coastal edge. As the shoreline changes, so too does the ground that crofters depend on. Our work at Eoligarry combines coastal monitoring with ongoing conversations with the crofting community, seeking to understand what future shifts in habitat mean for their land and practices, and how nature-based approaches might help them navigate what's ahead.
